.As you may recall, the NASE national convention was postponed and then eventually cancelled for 2020. We encourage all FSA employees to, at a minimum, attend the sessions in Teams to hear from national leaders. Be sure to fill out our Feedback Survey and tell us what you think we did right, and how we can improve the site. I would like to update everyone on the status of the 2020 NACS/NASE/NADD National Convention that was to be held August 30-September 3 in Omaha, NE. You may have heard already, but the 2020 convention has been officially cancelled. It was a difficult decision for the Employee Associations to make, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we felt it was in the best interest of everyone involved.
For any members that have already submitted their registration fees, the Convention Committee will be providing you a full refund. Committee Chair, Maureen Mausbach, NE, will have the refunds processed within the next week or two. NASE Executive Board members serve a 2-year term, so thankfully, elections were not needed this year. Current Zone Representatives have agreed to serve another year. The categories are being handled somewhat differently due to COVID and no National Convention.

Commander of NASE Award - The Commander of NASE Award describes an individual who has made a substantial contribution to the Association either on a local or national level. One who has actively supported NASE. AN individual who performs on a higher order for the betterment of the members of the Association. This individual does not necessarily have to be a member of NASE. Final selection for this award will be made by the Resource Committee. SPIRIT AWARD: This award will be given to a NASE member who has made a significant contribution to NASE on either the local or national level. Final selection for this award will be made by the Resource Committee. HORIZON AWARD: This award will be given to a member of NASE who has made a significant contribution to NASE on either the local or national level. The recipient of this award will be selected by the Executive Board. BLOOD, SWEAT & TEARS AWARD: A nomination for the NASE Blood, Sweat & Tears Award is an honor befitting those who have performed well above the call of duty on behalf of the members of our Association. Final selection for this award will be made by the Resource Committee. – NOTE: PLEASE Keep in mind this is a very special honor reserved for those individuals who have diligently worked on behalf of the Association, many times at great personal sacrifice. These awards will be presented at the 2020 National Convention in Omaha, NE – August 30, 2020 – September 2, 2020. Please have all nominations submitted to Norma Miller @ norma.miller@usda.gov on or before Friday August 7, 2020. Selections will be made the week of August 10th. A quick note from NASE President, Tamee Renwick……
I received word from Convention Committee Chair, Maureen Mausbach, NE, that the rescheduled dates for the NACS/NASE/NADD National Convention are August 30 – September 3, 2020, in Omaha, NE. The convention will be held at the Omaha Hilton Downtown. The Convention Committee hopes to have registration information out soon. When it is, we will send an email to our membership as well as posting the information to our NASE website (www.fsanase.org). Please keep in mind that our meeting is subject to the COVID-19 regulations that are/could be place in Nebraska. Let’s hope the pandemic is nearing an end by then, but……. If you will be flying to Omaha, you may want to check out the various airlines for cheap flights. Currently, Southwest has some great rates. Some of the flights are non-stop and as low as $49.00 one-way!! Remember...SAVE THE DATE...August 30 - September 3, 2020! I hope everyone is well and staying healthy! I know all our offices are extremely busy, but please take a few minutes each day for yourself …. relax and rejuvenate!! (Of course we hope that you will become a member and support this and our other efforts to support FSA employees.) Once you sign up, you will receive a link to the new archive location. The link will also appear in our next issue as well as subsequent issues. Non-Members will need to complete this form to receive the newsletter.
